Using the converter

Pick your city under My city and the other person’s city under Their city. Both clocks run live, and the line under them says how many hours apart the two cities are today. The swap button turns it the other way round. Open the full converter for a city pair to pick any time of day, see which hours fall at night, and check a table of common times.

Daylight saving, handled

Many cities move their clocks forward in spring and back in autumn, each on its own dates. London changes on the last Sunday of March and October, New York on the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November, and Sydney does the opposite, because its summer falls in the northern winter. The converter uses each city’s real rules, so the difference you see is right for the date you pick, not just for today.

Meeting across time zones
